The charity behind the highly regarded Social Worker of the Year Awards is looking to take its valuable work to the next level with the recruitment of a new Chair and up to three new Trustees.

Professor Ray Jones, who has enjoyed three years as Chair, is looking to hand over the reins later this year. Hoping to attract somebody who is passionate about social work and able to help the charity flourish, he said:

“The Social Worker of the Year awards are vital in giving recognition to and celebrating social work and social workers in England and, with the right driving force behind them, will only continue to get bigger and better in the future.”

Our Managing Director, James Rook, who has been a Trustee of the charity for several years, said:

“When the sector makes news headlines, it’s often for the wrong reasons, but I like to think that the awards go some way to making the public more aware of the difference social workers make to society as a whole.

“Never has it been more important to recognise new people coming into the profession, and those who have dedicated their entire career to social work.

“We’re now looking for new trustees; registered social workers who have a strong track-record of supporting the profession, and who have a passion to make sure we continue to shine a spotlight on the fantastic work practitioners and managers across the country are doing.”
