Here at Sanctuary Personnel we are delighted to have been shortlisted for the Institute of Recruitment Professionals (IRP) Best Recruitment Campaign and Client Partnership award, for our work with Hertfordshire County Council (HCC). 




We have been a preferred supplier of social workers to HCC for several years, so when the council approached us to be its recruitment partner for their new Family Safeguarding Project, we knew we would work well together to meet their very niche and time-critical requirements. 

Receiving a £4.9m grant from the Department for Education’s Children’s Social Care Innovation Programme, the Family Safeguarding Project is a first-of-its-kind collaboration between HCC and partnering agencies in health and social care. 

A significant redesign of social care services, the nature of the project placed a huge responsibility on effective and timely recruitment. The project consists of 22 teams of multidisciplinary staff, with Sanctuary Personnel contracted to resource these with children’s social workers, assessment team managers, domestic violence specialists, substance misuse professionals, nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists and psychiatric social workers. 

The multidisciplinary staffing of these teams was one of the most important, and challenging, recruitment needs of the project. This way of working had never been done before, therefore the roles or even an awareness of the service, didn’t exist. 

Before actively recruiting professionals into the roles, we devised a marketing campaign that included a new brand identity, logo, microsite, PR campaign along with editorial coverage in Sanctuary Social Work News, digital advertising plan and associated collateral to support recruitment efforts. 

Sue Williams, Director of Family Safeguarding at HCC, said: “The work undertaken by the Sanctuary Marketing Team has been first class. From the design work for our logo, the choice of colours, pictures, wording and the graphics to the recommendations on advertising and assistance with negotiating discounts with media, we could not have had a higher quality service. We are delighted with the outcomes.”

Working in true partnership with HCC, we attracted candidates nationwide to work within Hertfordshire and even relocate. This allowed HCC unrivalled access to a talent pool of candidates in order to cherry-pick applicants for what were very unique roles.
 
Ms Williams continued:  “We have the lowest rates of social work vacancies we have had in a decade and have attracted high quality candidates that have understood what we aim to achieve and been full of enthusiasm to join us in our ambition to transform how child protection is delivered in Hertfordshire.”

Winners will be announced at the IRP Awards ceremony in London on Wednesday, 9 December.
