Practitioner psychologists are being reminded that they must renew their registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) before Sunday 31st May 2015, if they wish to remain registered with the professional body.

Registration opened on Sunday 1st March, and the HCPC are urging all practitioners to submit their professional declaration and pay their renewal fee as early as they can to avoid any disruption to their practice. Only those who remain on the register will be allowed to practice using the titles “practitioner psychologist” or “registered psychologist”.

As part of the registration process, psychologists will also have to ensure that their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) portfolios are accurate and up-to-date, as 2.5% of the profession will be selected at random to be audited. Notifications will be sent to those who have been selected for audit.

CPD Portfolios must detail all activities undertaken over the past two years, alongside an explanation of how these activities have positively impacted upon their practice. To help people prepare their portfolios, more information including video guides, detailed publications and sample profiles can be found on the HCPC website.

Re-registration for the HCPC can be completed quickly and efficiently online, although paper renewal forms are also available on request.

Further information and guidance relating to the registration process can be found on the HCPC website
