    Social Worker

    Description

Social Worker, National Law Firm - Children's Services
Permanent | Nottingham | Package up to £41,000 per annum

Sanctuary Social Care currently has an intriguing job opportunity for a Social Worker that wants to bring their considerable experience (10 years post-qualifying) to a team of enthusiastic lawyers providing the best legal support to Children's Services providers nationwide.

You will be joining a National Law Firm that acts for local authorities' Children's Services teams all over the country. Their clients face claims from current and former service users (and sometimes their parents) alleging:

    • That social workers failed to act in order to protect them for abusive experiences
    • As a result of their own risk taking behaviour
    • At home
    • In foster care
    • In residential care
    • That they have been mistreated within the context of Family Court Proceedings
    • That there has been a breach under the Data Protection Act 1998
    • That their Human Rights have been infringed
    • That there was a mishandling of an adoption
    • Many other unconventional complaints

This firm also carries out a considerable amount of work advising our clients (from the public, private and charitable sectors) on safeguarding, social worker's performance management and training, safe and appropriate information sharing, SCR's and public inquiries.

    Experience needed for this role:
Having experience of working as an Independent Reviewing Officer or GAL, in complaints and/or in a management role will be advantageous. The successful candidate is likely to demonstrate some of the following experience:
    - An understanding of how the treatment of the threshold criteria under the Children Act 199 have changed over the years
    - Working in multi-disciplinary teams including health, social care, education and the police
    - Management of s20 and cases where Care Orders have been obtained
    - Child protection work and how duty teams and unallocated cases work
    - Demonstrable experience of how paper and electronic records keeping works in practice
    - A willingness to learn new skills, and to pass your own skills on in return
    - Clear and concise communication style - excellent written work, and detailed chronologies.
    - Taking statements from social workers
    - Well planned and focussed working - your time will be chargeable, clients will not pay for inefficiency

Sanctuary will be pleased to hear from candidates who enjoy presenting and training others. You will work alongside lawyers to demonstrate the services on offer, and developing new services that will benefit clients.
    Benefits of this role:
    - A friendly and flexible working environment including the possibility of working at home or remotely if that suits you
    - Sociable hours - we do not currently offer any out of hours service, since one is not required at present
    - Top level support from leading solicitors, and a team of over 20 lawyers who want to work with and learn from you
    - You will be joining a multi-award winning employer
    - A varied and interesting caseload - with plenty of opportunity to work with the team to develop and service new areas of work
