Having heard about the successful introduction of worry eaters by Essex County Council’s children in care team, we’re running a giveaway for social workers interested in giving one of the zipped-mouthed creatures a home!

The concept behind these quirky little creatures is simple, but effective, as 2014’s Social Worker of the Year, Zahraa Adam, discusses in the latest edition of Sanctuary Social Work News

Whilst ‘Saggo’ or ‘Enno’ wouldn’t look out of place amongst a child’s toys, the worry eaters have a very specific purpose. Young people write down their worries, place them inside the toy’s mouth to be shared with the social worker or foster carer, as Zahraa says:

“Some young people use them solely as a way to communicate with their foster carers, as it’s often physically difficult for them to say certain things. Instead, they’ll put a note into the worry eater for their foster carer to read later.”

Would you like to give ‘Saggo’ and ‘Enno’ a home? We’re giving away two worry eaters, kindly donated by the manufacturer, Worry Eater, and online toy supplier PDK (pdk.co.uk).

The closing date for entering is 30 September 2016.

You can either send us an email to giveaway@sanctuarysocialcare.com with the subject heading “worry eater giveaway” with your name, postal address, email and phone number. Or, you can fill in the form below.

*The winner will be randomly selected and the judge’s decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
