Last week’s (Thursday 5th February) Future of Radiography networking event was deemed a huge success, with delegates describing it as “an excellent event” which was “very informative” and “emphasised the importance of our profession”.

The event featured an exclusive keynote speech from Karen Smith, President of the Society and College of Radiographers who declared that “radiographers have a huge part to play in health care”. During her presentation, Karen focused on the future of both the radiography and sonography professions and discussed how practitioners can work together to raise the profile of both sectors.

Delegates, who attended the event, had the opportunity to enjoy delicious pre-dinner drinks and canapés along with ample networking opportunities to speak directly with Karen, and learn best practice tips and techniques from like-minded colleagues. As a result, they were able to log the event as an activity for their ongoing CPD portfolios.

Lee Emmett from Sanctuary Health, who welcomed guests to the event said: “It was great to have the chance to speak directly with so many radiographers and sonographers. It is rare that events are held specifically for these professions, so it was a nice way for practitioners to meet fellow colleagues and learn more from the Society and College of Radiography about how their careers may change in the future.” His thoughts were echoed by delegates who added:

“It was a very informative event. There is a lot within the radiography world going on which I am now fully aware of.”

Azmina Mawjee, General Radiographer

“The Future of Radiography networking event was an excellent event, providing opportunities to meet both radiographers and sonographers from different institutes and hospitals, exchanging their views, experience and learning new techniques... Karen Smith’s presentation was marvellous... This event provided a lot of answers to my queries regarding radiography.”

Usman, Radiographer

“It was nice to emphasise the importance of our profession.”

Anonymous, Sonographer

“It was an excellent choice of speaker. I really enjoyed what she had to say.”

Anonymous, Sonographer

“The event reinforced the need for radiography and sonography to have a more prominent profile, and in particular for sonography to be seen as a profession in its own right.”

Anonymous, Midwife Sonographer
