This week (23 May – 27 May), sees the launch of an innovative regional public awareness campaign which will focus upon raising the profile of child and adult safeguarding.

The Northamptonshire Safeguarding Week is the first time that a regional campaign such as this has been launched, and throughout the week there will be a range of local events and social media activities focusing upon individual themes relating to safeguarding.

The highlight of the week will be the launch of a new Northamptonshire Neglect Toolkit at a conference in Kettering on Thursday 26 May, which will be attended by social workers, GPs and Police. The toolkit has been designed to support like-minded professionals as they work together in decision making and planning, to ensure that vulnerable people are better safeguarded.

Northamptonshire Safeguarding Week has been launched by the NHS Nene and NHS Corby Clinical Commissioning Groups and has received support from Northamptonshire County Council, Northamptonshire Police and Northampton and Ketting General Hospitals.

We strongly support initiatives such as this, which shine a light on the work undertaken by health and social care professionals, and we would like to commend those involved in organising such an innovative campaign. We will be following the campaign online with interest and will be joining in the conversation on twitter using the hashtag #safenorthants16
