Social workers across the country are making a valuable contribution to their local communities, but how well is the work of the profession promoted amongst the general public?

We want to know what you think

Is the public perception of social workers beginning to change? Has there been a shift in the way the media is covering social work stories? Is the role of a social worker more accepted in society as a result? Or, perhaps you think there is still a long way to go until social workers are given the same respect as professionals in other agencies, such as teachers or doctors.

This year, there have been more social work related TV programmes than ever before (courtesy of Channel 4, BBC2 and Sky Arts 1 HD), taking varying approaches to the depiction of a social worker’s role. Initiatives to improve national pride, such as the Social Worker of the Year Awards, have also helped to raise awareness and increase positive press coverage.

Whether you have noticed the impact or not, let us know your thoughts by completing our short survey.
